All Rover MG cars manufactured from 1995 onwards are fitted with an immobiliser unit that will not allow the car to start without recognising a correctly programmed transponder chip in the key or fob. The chip uses electronic encryption, similar to the passwords you would use for various online accounts.
The encryption system makes it virtually impossible for thieves to steal your Rover by producing a copy of your key, but this does also mean that replacing Rover keys requires knowledge and specialist equipment. The replacement process involves a trained engineer using high-tech equipment to programme a transponder chip inside your key for your specific vehicle.
LOCKFiX24 can visit your vehicle wherever it’s located at any time that suits you. We will cut and supply you with a newly-programmed car key for your Rover or MG while you wait. Our 24 hour, 7 day a week service means we can cater to any emergency whether you’re locked out of your vehicle or have damaged/misplaced your keys.
