Most Renault cars now have a key card system to operate the remote central locking and disarm the vehicle’s immobiliser. This unique system is the primary method for all users to enter, and start the vehicle. There are two main cards Renault have produced; your vehicle may be fitted with either a hands free or manual card. The main difference being that the hands free system allows you to start the vehicle without the need to insert the card into the dashboard.
Although Renault is able to supply new or replacement key cards, they are an expensive option which most of our customers choose to avoid. When going to a main dealership, you’ll need to supply identification together with your V5 documentation before they’re willing to order the replacement card, adding between 5-7 days onto your order collection date. Once the card has arrived, you’re required to report to a Renault dealer to have the card programmed to your car – needless to say, the process is extremely long winded.
Here at LOCKFiX24, we can help with most, if not all, of your Renault key/card problems. Our mobile locksmiths are trained to supply and program new cards at the roadside – call us today.
